The midpoint of the presumptive range would be about five years, meaning the person would have to serve a mandatory five-year sentence.

Generally speaking, the “worse” a crime is considered, the more severe the sentence, and the greater the minimum sentence a person would be required to serve. The most serious violent crimes carry potential sentences of up to 48 years in prison. This means that a single prison sentence can potentially mean the end of your life as you know it. Even lesser violent crimes carry potential sentences of four to eight years in prison.
